The Wizard's Wardrobe A&T

Term Definition
The Wizard's Wardrobe; WW The entire IC playing arena of our roleplaying world
Admin The leadership that creates and maintains the overall world; Admin roleplay key leadership positions in the wizarding world.
Moderators (Mods) Various leaders who assist with a particular site, a group of members or an aspect of roleplaying in our world. Mods usually RP characters with similar roles.
Roleplaying; RP The portrayal of an IC character in imaginary settings
Player; Member Any real-life person that has completed an application and been approved to roleplay in our world
Character Any created entity that lives within our imaginary world
Player Character; PC A character created and owned by a specific player
Non-Player Character; NPC A character that is not owned by any particular member. Members may create or use existing NPC’s to enhance their scenes.
Feature Character; FC Any character appearing by name in the HP series
Site, PC A specific group of people or location in our world. The primary population consists of PC's.
Site, NPC A specific group of people or location in our world; The primary population consists of NPC's.
Realism The concept of roleplaying what could realistically happen in the IC world
Timeline; Timeflow The movement of time in the Wizard's Wardrobe; IC = IRL time.
Rules, Regulations, Guidelines; R&R The system of guidelines that govern our roleplaying experience
Chargen The process of creating a character in our world
Spell Any magical act, including potions, charms, transformations
School, primary A place of learning for children 10 and under
School, secondary A place of learning for children ages 11-17
University A place of learning for adults

Chargen A&T

Term Definition
Categories A grouping of similar stats
Credit An OOC unit used to purchase Chargen abilities or traits
Statistic, Stat A specific fact or ability of a character
Attractiveness A stat indicating a character's physical looks
Nationality A stat indicating a character's ethnicity
Magical Affinity An area where a character learns quickly and/or is naturally talented.
Magical Talent A special ability, made possible by magic, that is unique to a select number of people (ex. Animagus, Parseltongue)
Wealth A stat indicating a character comes from a wealthy family
Possessions, perishable Items owned by the character that will spoil after one school year. (ex. all food, certain potions ingredients)
Possessions, non-perishable Items owned by the character until lost, sold, stolen or given away.
Biography; Bio The character's history and ongoing story, created partly through Chargen and partly through ongoing journal
Character Directory Each character is assigned a personal strand to keep their stats and bios. All players may view these pages.
Stats Page The first page of a character's directory, reserved for a character's current Chargen stats
Journal; bios page Continuing pages of a character's page, where they may write journal entries of their roleplaying experience.

Hogwarts A&T

Term Definition
House Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw & Slytherin
The four divisions of Hogwarts
House Points IC unit that is used for rewards and punishments which are tallied toward the goal of the House Cup
Faculty and Staff Mods for academics and general life at Hogwarts
Prefects Mods for Houses
Quidditch Captains Mods for House Quidditch teams
Term 1/3 of a school year. Fall Term- September to December, Winter Term- January to March, and Summer Term- April to June.
Year Level of school, running from First Year to Seventh Year
Class, Live A class held real-time over AIM.
Class, MB A class held post & response over the site MBs
Homework, IC Homework that the character must do ICly, but does not require out-of-class, IRL time to complete.
Homework, OOC Homework that the character must do ICly that will require out-of-class, IRL time to complete.
Grades A player's score for the term in a particular class over a term, a combination of IC and OOC effort
Sorting The process of determining a character's House. This is determined OOCly between the Admin and the player, then roleplayed ICly by the character.
Uniform The standard daily student-wear of black robe, House blazon and black hat.
The Rumor Mill A system of spreading and learning verbal news and gossip.

General Harry Potter A&T

Term Definition
J.K. Rowling; JKR The author of the Harry Potter series that we are all obsessed with.
Harry Potter, HP The series of books that form the basis of our world
Muggle Non-magical people
Pure-blood A term indicating a person's magical ancestry
Mud-blood A derogatory term indicating a person of mixed or Muggle ancestry
Wizard Money
Galleons, Sickles & Knuts
The coinage used by magical people in the British Isles.
1 Galleon = 17 Sickles = 493 Knuts
Ministry of Magic; MoM The magical governing body of the British Isles. Other nations have similar governing bodies by various names.
Quidditch A wizarding sport played on broomsticks and found throughout the magical world.

IRL In Real Life-- Refers to the player's real life
IC In Character-- The character is acting or being referred to.
OOC Out of Character-- The player is acting or referring to themselves outside of their character
IAL In Another Life-- The player is referring to another character other than the one they presently animate, be it a WW or non-WW character.
