IC Situations
IC rewards and discipline are directed at the character involved, not the player.
Rewards or discipline given to a character will not reflect the player's status
unless accompanied by an OOC action. (See also OOC Situations below)
House points will be the primary form of IC rewards and discipline. They will be given and taken frequently throughout the school year. A character should consider that their actions will often affect their House, and certain decisions may help or hinder a House in the competition for the House Cup (See also House Points).
Detention will be reserved for serious IC violations. The teacher will discuss the matter with the student OOCly to determine how it can be planned, and the situation will be RPed after the details have been determined.
Teachers and Staff may give other rewards such as food or money in moderation as the situation warrants. This should be in-line with the character. Magical objects may only be given as rewards with Admin approval.
If a student misuses a possession in Faculty presence, the Teacher or Staff member may take that item away for a limited time. The teacher should OOCly inform the student how long the item will remain confiscated, and then return the item at the end of that period. (For example, a teacher may take a toy or food away from a student during a class period.) Students should not use items forbidden ICly in faculty or staff presence. This may result in a permanent loss of that possession.
Chargen Credits may not be given as rewards or removed as IC punishment.
OOC Situations
In general, IC actions will not reflect on the OOC player. However, if Moderators
or Admin feel an IC action inappropriate, they will give the player an OOC warning,
whether or not they were present when the action occurred. (Note: If a faculty member
was present, the action may also have an IC reprimand, which should be considered
separate from any OOC warnings.)
Certain OOC actions on the player's part are also considered unacceptable. A list can be found in the Site Guidelines. Members are expected to read and follow these guidelines. Players who violate these rules will receive an OOC warning.
If a player continues to disregard the site guidelines, the Admin may choose to take OOC action. Such discipline may include: Loss of Chargen credits, loss of IC or OOC privileges and responsibilities, or, in extreme cases, site dismissal.
The goal of the Admin is to encourage enjoyment for every member, and any such actions are made in the interest of the entire site.
